Army officer Prakash Singh Rathod (Jimmy Sheirgill) is posted to Ranchi. He arrives at a bungalow, which he is supposed to share with Subhash Sharma (Kunaal Roy Kapur), a civil engineer who has spent his career abroad and doesn't know how to cook. The bungalow belongs to an old couple, Sevaram and Agri Bai, who live in the kachcha portion of the house and have a dog named Puchki. The two men go out for a meal the first night and Prakash chooses to eat vegetarian food while Subhash takes meat. But their friendship blossoms when they start sharing their past. Prakash is a huge fan of the band Pink Floyd and has a collection of their music on his cellphone. Subhash had met Pink Floyd at a concert in Delhi some years before and has kept all the concert tickets as well as the posters from those concerts. Prakash also had some financial issues with some company so he needed to sell his device for cash. He never expected the buyer to be Sevaram, but he agreed as there was no other buyer available. In return, Prakash helps Sevaram repair a pipeline that his company laid earlier that day. Things turn better when they travel together to see a Bollywood film. Subhash is in love with a Bollywood actress but doesn't have the courage to propose to her. Prakash suggests taking a selfie when they see the Bollywood actress in real life for Subhash to propose to her. The next day, Prakash and Subhash go out for a bike ride in the city and see a man being attacked by four men on a scooter. The police arrive too late. The two men save the man from being killed but he is unable to give any details about his attackers. Prakash and Subhash visit the family of the man who was saved by them, but they are too shocked to give any details. They then go to the old couple's house for dinner where Prakash tells about his father who is a police officer. He had brought up Subhash as his own son after his wife died nine years before. The next morning, Prakash goes for some shopping at the nearby market and sees some armpit stains on Subhash's shirt. He pulls him aside and tells him that he has seen these stains before in Ranchi some years ago on some other shirt worn by Subhash.
